"A Tribe Called Youth" is just one of the numerous groundbreaking ideas I have. My dedication to youth and mentorship has developed significantly over time. I am particularly focused on the academic success, influences, and experiences of young people. I aspire to play a significant role in shaping their futures.
During my teenage years, I served as a teacher's assistant in a local youth program, where I closely interacted with the children. It's safe to say that I felt dissatisfied and let down. I started to experience a sense of "righteous anger" due to the perceived lack of support and guidance that I felt the children should have received.
I knew that I had to figure out a way to bridge the gap between youth, their parents and their community. This is what the children of my community deserved.
My personal testimony was the second most crucial factor in the formation of ATCY. Despite not being a top student or the most well-behaved, I appreciate the mentors who helped me realize my academic, personal, and spiritual capabilities. I take pride in the person I have become.
A Tribe Called Youth is a youth development program & resource center for children and families. My number one goal is to stretch the concept of Positive Youth Development. I would like to dedicate this dream to the many people who crossed my path at the right time mentoring me and covering me. And now I can do the same for the generations under me.
A quote that resonates is "be the person you needed when you were a kid". I invite you to join me in embracing God's will by advocating for children and youth every day.
